Process

Intuitive making

In my ceramic practice, I embrace an intuitive approach to creation. The forms emerge primarily through the act of making — by modeling the clay with my hands — rather than from a pre-conceived image.

It is a process of gradual discovery, a form of active listening that pays close attention to the suggestions that arise from the interaction between mind, body, and material. Movement leads the way, guiding each piece into being.

Experimental firings

I explore alternative firing methods, particularly wood firing, which allows for unique aesthetic outcomes shaped by the process itself. These firings introduce elements of unpredictability and spontaneity, where flame, ash, and atmosphere leave their mark on each piece.

Beyond the visual qualities, the firing becomes an experience — a participatory act of transformation — forging a deeper connection with the material as clay becomes ceramic through fire.

Inspired by nature

My fascination with natural beauty is deeply reflected in the themes of my work.

I draw inspiration from attentive observation of nature’s rhythms — its growth patterns, textures, colors, and quiet transformations. These impressions accompany me into the creative process, subtly informing the forms and surfaces I shape.

Nature is not just a reference, but a presence that guides and grounds my making.

Essential materials

I seek to work with raw, essential materials — such as clay and oxides in their purest form. These materials are present throughout my process, from hand-building to finishing and painting.

One example is Terra Sigillata, a technique that uses refined clay slips to create smooth, almost glazed-like surfaces using nothing more than clay itself. I explore this method in combination with atmospheric firings, such as wood and gas reduction, which bring out unique and often unpredictable aesthetic effects.
